7 Reasons Not To Mess With Children

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales.

The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.

Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.

The little girl said, 'When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah'.

The teacher asked, 'What if Jonah went to hell?'

The little girl replied, 'Then you ask him'.

***************************************************************************************************************
A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was.
The girl replied, 'I'm drawing God.'

The teacher paused and said, 'But no one knows what God looks like.'

Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied, 'They will in a minute.'

***************************************************************************************************************

A Sunday school teacher was discussing the Ten Commandments with her five and six year olds.

After explaining the commandment to 'honor thy Father and thy Mother, she asked, 'Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters?'

Without missing a beat one little boy (the oldest of a family) answered, 'Thou shall not kill.'

***************************************************************************************************************
One day a little girl was sitting and watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink. She suddenly noticed that her mother had several strands of white hair sticking out in contrast on her brunette head.

She looked at her mother and inquisitively asked, 'Why are some of your hairs white, Mum?'

Her mother replied, 'Well, every time that you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy, one of my hairs turns white.'

The little girl thought about this revelation for a while and then said, 'Mummy, how come ALL of grandma's hairs are white?'

**************************************************************************************************************
The children had all been photographed, and the teacher was trying to persuade them each to buy a copy of the group picture.

'Just think how nice it will be to look at it when you are all grown up and say, 'There's Jennifer, she's a lawyer,' or 'That's Michael, He's a doctor.'

A small voice at the back of the room rang out, 'And there's the teacher, she's dead.'

*****************************************************************************************************

A teacher was giving a lesson on the circulation of the blood. Trying to make the matter clearer, she said, 'Now, class, if I stood on my head, the blood, as you know, would run into it, and I would turn red in the face.'

'Yes,' the class said.

'Then why is it that while I am standing upright in the ordinary position the blood doesn't run into my feet?'
A little fellow shouted,

'Cause your feet ain't empty.'

*********************************************************************************************************************

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples.'

Science vs Religion

GOD vs. Science

A science professor begins his school year with a lecture to the students,
'Let me explain the problem science has with religion.'
The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.

'You're a Christian, aren't you, son?'
'Yes sir,' the student says.

'So you believe in God?'
'Absolutely.'

'Is God good?'
'Sure! God's good.'

'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'
'Yes.'

'Are you good or evil?'
'The Bible says I'm evil.'

The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible!' He considers for a moment. 'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?'

'Yes sir, I would.'

'So you're good...!'
'I wouldn't say that.'

'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if you could.
Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't.'

The student does not answer, so the professor continues. 'He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can you answer that one?'

The student remains silent.

'No, you can't, can you?' the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax.

'Let's start again, young man. Is God good?'
'Yes,' the student says.

'Is Satan good?'
The student doesn't hesitate on this one. 'No.'

'Then where does Satan come from?'
The student falters. 'From God'

'That's right. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?'
'Yes, sir.'

'Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?'

'Yes.'

'So who created evil?' The professor continued, 'If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.'

Again, the student has no answer. 'Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred?
Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?'

The student squirms on his feet. 'Yes.'

'So who created them?'

The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question.
'Who created them?' There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. 'Tell me,' he continues onto another student. 'Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?'

The student's voice betrays him and cracks. 'Yes, professor, I do.'

The old man stops pacing. 'Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?'

'No sir. I've never seen Him.'

'Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?'
'No, sir, I have not.'

'Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt you're Jesus?
Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?'

'No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't.'
'Yet you still believe in him?'
'Yes.'

'According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?'

'Nothing,' the student replies. 'I only have my faith.'
'Yes, faith,' the professor repeats. 'And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.'

At the back of the room another student stands quietly for a moment before asking a question of His own. 'Professor, is there such thing as heat?'

'Yes,' the professor replies. 'There's heat.'

'And is there such a thing as cold?'
'Yes, son, there's cold too.'
'No sir, there isn't.'

The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain.

'You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit up to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest -458 degrees.'

'Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold.
Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.'

Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.

'What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?'

'Yes,' the professor replies without hesitation. 'What is night if it isn't darkness?'

'You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word.'

'In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?'

The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. 'So what point are you making, young man?'

'Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.'

The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time. 'Flawed? Can you explain how?'

'You are working on the premise of duality,' the student explains. 'You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God.
You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought.'

'Science uses electricity and magnetism, but we have never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.'

'Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey??

'If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.'

'Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?'

The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.

'Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?'

The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided.

'To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.'

The student looks around the room. 'Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain?' The class breaks out into laughter.

'Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.'

'So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?'

Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable.

Finally, after what seems an eternity, the professor answers. 'I guess you'll have to take them on faith.'

'Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,' the student continues. 'Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?'

Now uncertain, the professor responds, 'Of course, there is. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.'

To this the student replied, 'Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like
darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.'

The professor sat down.

I have heard many churches teach the rapture. I was wondering if the LDS church teaches it as well. I have heard both sides within the church but have not studied enough of the church doctrine to know what the documentation says.

Thank you for the info.

http://www.irr.org/mit/bom-bible.html

http://www.irr.org/mit/boc/

(this is the page where you can view the scanned images of the 1833 book of mormon which has changed over the years from its original text to what we have today. There are two revisions to the original text of which I found incredibly interesting.

If one looks up the original use of the Urim and Thumim it was two sones.. one black one white. They were worn on the priests robes during the times of Moses.. When ppl came to them with questions, the stones were used to answer either yes(white) or no(black) they were not used in translation of any thing...

There is also now documented scientific proof that the lamanites did not become the modern day Indians. The indians came from other dna places..LOL Dna has not shown where the lamanites have stemmed from as yet;. but their working on it.. so this is another discrepancy..

since this is a really big sticking point in the lds theology, that the apologetics are working hard at discrediting the studies that have been done, and creating less than credible studies of their own to quote from.

things that could prove that indians were descendants of jews:
any artifacts with jewish customs, ideas, writing, or myths.(none have been found so far)
any dna that comes from jewish ancestry.(again, none has been found)
An indian bible(nope, never been found)
a language developed or related to aramaic(none, and the navajo language is completely verbal)

so what proof have you seen that i haven't?

Utah Valley Commons, a cohousing community to be located south of Salt Lake City and within commuting distance of Utah Valley State College and Brigham Young University, welcomes participation by individuals and families interested in: co-housing, eco-village development, permaculture, and sustainable living in general. The UVCC has no religious or political affiliation. At the moment most of our members are LDS. Everyone is welcome.

At present we are early in the planning stage, and no site has been selected. The list will serve as forum for discussion, and will lead to practical expression in the form of eco-village and/or co-housing development in or near Provo, Utah. Our models are Eco-Village at Ithaca (www.ecovillage.ithaca.ny.us/), Champlain Valley Co-Housing (www.champlainvalleycohousing.org), the Wasatch Commons (www.econ.utah.edu/~ehrbar/c...ndex.htm), and Earthsong Eco-Neighborhood (www.earthsong.org.nz), suitably modified to local conditions.

since the most recent posts seem to be somewhat negatively driven, I thought I'd throw out a positive question.
Does anyone need help with clever ideas for a lesson they're teaching?
I teach CTR 8 and I've been able to come up with some decent ideas that help keep the children focussed in class they have fun, too!
I'd be willing to help with anyone's class if you'd like.

Does that make me a bad mormon ????I often wonder if people in my ward shun me for this ..

I recently heard on cnn that "up until the 1960's the mormon church said that blacks could only get to heaven as servants/slaves" and that "blacks could not be ordained morman priests"

is this true?

have the rules been changed?

Best Testimony

I love Testimonies. The best one I heard was the one just before I came to college, when my mother stood up and expressed her love for me and our whole family. She was filled with the spirit, and there was so much love. I cry every time I remember it. The church has to be true, because through it I have the best parents, the greatest family, and we're strengthened every time we pray together. When she was giving her testimony, she said how gratifying it was to be able to read the scriptures together. Last night I remembered that so much when I was reading alone. The gospel is supposed to be shared, and I think that's what testimonies are about.

Thanks for listening to me work that out.

What was the most moving testimony you've heard?

I see that this Tribe in particular is not a very active one. In your opinion, is this because most of you are to busy with work or school, and then there's your church calling and kids ta' boot? Or is it that, there's not much to say to fellow members outside your circle of Bro/Sisters in your particular wards or branches?

Taking the Sacrament in Yellowstone

I did this for the first time, this summer. It was a pretty neat experience. I think it had an extra measure of spirituality due to the wonderous nature that showed itself off just outside the windows of the Lake Lodge (where the services were held). It was a fasting testimony, and as you might have guessed there were many who were thankful for the wonders of nature that we found are selves in. I was touched as I always am when heartfelt testimonies are bared and it was just very cool in that rustic setting. Interestingly because that branch has no permanent members, you are officially a member of that branch for that day. Priests from different wards in different states passing the sacrament together along with all the various other duties that were taken care of by us out of towners really made for a special experience

Anyone else want to talk about the special experiences they've had visiting wards or branches other then there own?

After browsing my profile, one would ask from this group what it was that I thought I had in common..... Alas! I am a member and was never excommunicated because I never took the vows of the higher preisthood, I became inactive at age 14, barely a teacher, even then I was having second thought of being an active member. My awareness of the church was so great that I felt it was shameful to live one way and pretend to live another - In a nutshell, I had no intention of disgacing myself or the Church by doing so.

Anyway, Im looking for a group of people skilled in Mormon Doctrine, as I have many questions. Ya I could go to the local Bishops and chat up a storm but this more to my liking ... after that, then maybe Ill have the feeling of worthiness to be in the presence of likeminded others.

Wow, just noticed that while I just found this tribe, that it looks lik there's a dust build up. XP

I'm kinda curious if most of this is posting by members who are active and love the Church/Gospel, inactive memebrs looking for answers, or non-members?

Anyway, hi.

Hello.... (echo echo echo)
I am just now begining to morefully understand what it means to be LDS. I have been living, but not really alive. I have been aware, but not fully AWARE of who I really am. I have known I am more than what my friends thought or knew of them selves. I am an infinite being of radiant light brighter than our sun. The messages are in front ofour very noses at all times butwe haveto seek them out ask for them or they will continue to evade us leavingus frustrated and confused. We are more aware only if we choose to utilize the gifts we have been given, gratefully acknowledging by being in service at all times to our fellow man. This messageis shared repeatedly throughout our lives. Almost so often it may seem reduntant and we may, like many other important messages, ignore them like an old stop sign we see everyday on our way home. Eventually we will get caught up for missing this important message one way or another. Charity,Humility Service Acknowledge and appreciate the greatest gift of our lives. These are the messages I am finnally beginning to fully utilize and life perspective has turned 90*. I can feel the warmth which has been radiating all along but I was not paying attention.

mission in Costa Rica

When I served a mission in Costa Rica one of the first things we were told when we got to the mission home was that we never ever mention the fact that there is a church welfare program. I always found this odd as the members there were still required to pay their full tithes, fast offerings, etc. but they had no knowledge of a welfare program.

Could someone please explain to me why people living, in many cases, 3rd world conditions were paying for some American's cheerios when they could barely afford to feed their own families?

Rules of Revolution

When I was growing up, I had two missionaries bring this to our house and share it with us. I have not forgotten what it entails, nor how it is coming about in our latter days.

Communist Rules for Revolution

To the best of my knowledge, these rules were first printed in the Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Examiner-Enterprise in 1919. It was reprinted again in 1946 in The New World News, after the Florida attorney general secured it from a known member of the communist party, who acknowledged that it was then still a part of the communist program. In May 1919, at Dusseldorf, Germany, the Allied Forces obtained a copy of the "Communist Rules for Revolution." Nearly 83 years later, they have nearly succeeded in every area.

A- Corrupt the young; get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial; destroy their ruggedness.

B- Get control of all means of publicity, thereby:

1. Get peoples mind off of government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books, plays and other trivialities.

2- Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of "No Importance".

3- Destroy the people's faith in their natural leaders by holding them up to contempt, ridicule and disgrace.

4. Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and as ruthlessly as possible.

5. By encouraging government extravagance, destroy its credit; produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent.

6. Incite unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorders and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of government toward such disorders.

7. By specious argument, cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues: honesty, sobriety, self-restraint, faith in the pledged word, ruggedness.

C. Cause the registration of ALL firearms on some pretext with a view to confiscate them and leave the population helpless.

Every one of these are nearly complete in the U.S. today.

Q & A --- the name of the church/tribe. what gives?

first off, to clear a simple one up ...

Q-
what's with the name of the church? i've heard lds, the mormons, and latter day saints. are they all the same and what gives?

A-
first the LDS and Latter Day Saint references...both are simply abbreviations of the church’s whole name.
the official name of the church is "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". now you see why it gets shortened? ;)
what does it mean...
church members believe the church is lead by Jesus Christ via revelation to a living prophet on the earth today. as Christ is the head of the church, thus the "Church of Jesus Christ".
further more it is understood and believed that the church Christ established during his earthly ministry was destroyed and it's teachings became diluted. This falling away of the truth is known as the apostasy. with this destruction came the literal loss of the power and authority to act in the name of Christ. this power and authority is known as the priesthood.
this priesthood or power and authority to act in the name of Christ has been restored to the earth and the church of Christ has been re-established. the "Latter Day Saints" portion of the name is to distinguish this church from the one established by Christ in ancient times.

now for the "mormon" references...
another part of this restoration was the translation of additional ancient scripture. this book of scripture is called The Book of Mormon. the book is named after one of the prophets in the book that did much of the compilation of other prophets writings into one text. this book is where the term "mormons" comes from.

i hope this helps and i’m sure there’s something here for discussion.

Positive faith building

We are here on this earth for a purpose and we can choose to acknowledge our potential or follow the crowd of laid back slackers in this life.
I give you my testimony of my Life that this church is ordained of God. That the principles which are taught are for the greater good of man. Any man who chooses to do so can find a fault in anything and create a stir. The desire to do this does not come from God. So many claim to have knowledge but they base it on hearsay. Yes the picture of Joseph translating by looking at the plates is incorrect. It is only an artist rendition getting the point accros that he was key to the situation. Would you understand what was being shared by somone with their face stuffed into a hat preventing light from entering? A picture is wortha thousand words. The picture I have been getting here since I joined this tribe is that there are a few faithful persons being challenged on their faith.
We are challenge daily on this. We do not need somone whoi thinks they know it all sitting in front of their computer stiring the proverbial pot looking for conflict in this tribe.

The TRUTH resonates very differently when one speaks the word of God or is speaking in the name of God our father. I know that only those who are ready to understand this will hear the difference. I for one had researched many other forms of truth during my inactivity. No one person spoke to me in a manner which caried the resonance of a pure contrite spirit guided by the Holy Ghost until I made the decision to stop denying what I innately knew to be true.

No one can stir my faith in this church. Yes the church is made up of many imperfect beings and there have been many errors made by many people. The doctrine has only changed slightly to accomodate for the changing of times. WE are no longer dying at 40 so we can get married at 30 something now. Times change.
This I know when one crosses over the Truth will be known and they who denied Christ here or denied the truth here will be in their own hell created by themselves because they could have been more to themselves and they could have loved themselves and their neighbors instead of seeking to destroy the faith of others.

I pray you are all well and know what you know to be true the truth will be known in the end and I stand to account my self to no man but myself.

As for me and my house we will serve the Lord!

Amen

This should be an especially interesting General Conference (first weekend in October) given the passing of 2 apostles.

I always love GC. But not just for the inspiring talks but also for the great music. I had an opportunity to listen in on one of the Choirs, Thursday night, rehearsals at the Tabernacle over the summer and I was blown away. They are even better in person. I've not been to a GC but I hope to one day soon.

Any one here planning on attending the next GC in person?

ok, at burningman some years ago i found a froup of chain smoking, beer in the hand, group of people that were exmormon, one of them told me how to get rid of missionaries if i wanted, he did not tell me what the handshake was for, its intertwined pinkies and feeling the pulse. I tried this on a missionary, before i could do it, he said " no!" and walked away, not even turning back.

so what the deck did i do?

dinosaurs and prehistoric humans ???

Hello, I'm a newbie here. I have been an active member of the church my whole life. But I would love to find answers so some of life's big questions. Logically the church makes a lot of since but I’m trying to find how evolution and prehistoric times fit into the big picture of life.

Now I know I don't NEED to know these things to have a testimonie but it would be interesting to exchange ideas of possible truths.

Ok, my questions.. Clearly evolution of all kids of species has occurred since the beginning of time. We know humans have evolved and it can be traced back to Neanderthal types then to ape-like men and back to monkeys. Evidence of this has been found on this earth, we are mammals so clearly we have these roots. But how does it fit in with the Adam and Eve story. Do you think, God used science and created mammals and through millions of years evolved them into modern human-like form then when it was "ready" he sanctified the spirit and created Adam from that creature ready to be called "man"?? What do you think? Here's what I don't understand, with the rib of Adam God created Eve. That's odd, wouldn't he use his evolved female and sanctify her to be Eve? Who knows, maybe the rib thing was the only way to explain some sort of dna recreation type creation.

Ok, I'm no scholar but I’m so curious as to how are these questions answered. No one will go into this much detail in Sunday school and I'm not going to BYU to study the details of it. So how the heck does it make since.

Ok, now my questions about dinosaurs. Why did God make these then kill them off? These were such amazing complex creatures. I think God made them on the fifth day. He created animals that day then something happened at some point of that day and they were all killed off. A few mammals survived and maybe you could say they eventually evolved into humans. BUT, what was the point of making the dinosaurs in the first place???

Does anyone have any thought or know of historical evidence that the earth changed from a Terrestrial state to a Telestial state? Like Adam and Eve lived in a Terrestrial world Then it changed to a Telestial world. God uses the laws of Science so is there a time when the world had a major event that made it Terrestrial world? It seems we would have evidence of that somewhere. Looking at the big picture I don't sanctified humans (decedents of Adam) have not been around very long. So it seems that evidence would be out there.

Anyway, sorry if I've lost ya but if you have any thoughts it would be interesting. Ugh, I still need to learn so much.

it has been suggested that we do a little more Q & A here as it pertains to the LDS church. (you know, the mormons.)

i say OK. let's not be afraid to post our feels on the question we put to the group either. <--not that this will ever happen here on tribe... ;)

let 'er rip tribies. let us know your thoughts or feelings. then let's all try to answer as best we can.

technically i am still mormon, since you cannot be unbaptized, only excommunicated....once you are underwater, you are dunked for all eternity.... he he he

of course, being ok with there not being a god that cares and watches and punishes us for our sins is great, because now i take responsibility for my own actions.

i am of course happy to help anyone considering leaving the mormon faith, it sucks leaving, its scary, as all your freinds that have cried with you and tell you they love you suddenly won't talk to you....

its a religion veiled in politeness and masonry.

there is no sin, and no punishing god... but there is spirituality and feeling the love of god seperate from the mormon faith, and you don't have to join another fucking cult in order to do it...

welcome brothers, and sisters that cannot hold the preisthood

Keeping the Faith

For the first time in my life I'm actually trying.
I was born into the church, and because of this I never really took it seriously. I went to church, did the whole mormon thing, and my parents were happy. As I grew older I began to see church as more of a chore and less of a blessing.
For the past year I have been completely inactive, and before then I could only say I was 'partially' inactive. Attending in body, but not in soul.
During my little renaisance I experienced many different types of religions, beliefs, and cultures, and gained a unique perspective on the world that I still maintain. However, all was grand and good until I decided to join the Navy. After joining I realized that I was embarking on a journey towards the rest of my life, and I wanted to make sure this nagging little voice in my head telling me 'the church is true' wasn't just a figment of my imagination. So I did some soul searching.
Being a much more scientific person than religious, I thought that it would be fair to perform an experiment. I have been told that if you read the scriptures and pray to god to tell you if it is true, that he will let you know (Not just for our religion either). Anyway, I tried it and I really did ask with all my heart, and guess what? I have been active for about a month now and my life has never felt so solid.
It's like I have a foundation to stand on now, and everything makes sense. Before now I have always felt a little chaotic, like something was missing in the puzzle that is my life.
I had quit drinking, smoking, and doing drugs before I even made this decision, because I know that these things damage your body and your mind. But now I have a better reason not to do such things, and it helps me turn down the offers of my friends even easier than before.
Now I can look forward to the rest of my life with a knowledge that I'm doing the right things.
As a scientist I have to leave in the possibility that the church is not true, that god may not exist, and that we are all just lumps of atoms and molecules in a meaningless existence. But I'm %99.99999 sure that the church is true, that God does exist and loves us, and that we have potential for much more than we give ourselves credit for, and faith makes up for the other %0.00001 of uncertainty.
I don't know why I felt like posting this, but it felt good. I'm still on a long journey to where I need to be, but with faith and hard work I might just pull through.
