I have heard many churches teach the rapture. I was wondering if the LDS church teaches it as well. I have heard both sides within the church but have not studied enough of the church doctrine to know what the documentation says.
Thank you for the info.

Re: Rapture
Mon, January 12, 2009 - 7:22 AMWhen I was raised in the mormon church, armageddon was taught to such a degree, that I believed that jesus was coming back to the earth within my lifetime....
that the hour of midnite was only a minute away.
In fact, the name of the mormon church is apocolypse based "latter day"
the year supply of food is for the apocolypse.
Then there is this whole thing about physical ressurection of the seriously nice and holy people.
that should be fun, zombies for Christ -

Mon, January 12, 2009 - 12:01 PMYea.. well if He resurects the physical body, (which I don't believ) can I get someone elses body? This one is old, tired, and worn out.. lol
I"ve been meaning to go to the body shop and get a new one.. but they don't seem to have one in the size I want.. LOL -

Re: Rapture
Mon, January 12, 2009 - 4:41 PMI believe you will be stuck with that body of yours for all eternity, but I am sure they have a "resurrection face lift" and the beauty of your spirit of serving your husband will shine through and evaporate the wrinkles. Of course, if your eternal husband decides not to take you into heaven, a man that is both righteous and has lower standards will invite you into the eternal kingdom as his 50th or 51st wife. -

Re: Rapture
Mon, January 12, 2009 - 9:45 PMWho are you in reference to Starbuck? Me or Justin?
And Justin, I wouldn't mind being the 50 or 51st wife. He'd have to go thru that many so would probably forget he has a 50th wife.. LOL I could do paint, make jewelry (for the other wives too) and lots of other crafty things awaiting breathlessly for my husband to rememeber he has a 50th wife.. lol
With my luck he'll have alzheimers or something like it and for get he's got any wives.. hahahaha then we could all just sit around and have a "hen" party.. hahahaha
I have a sense of humor about these things..

Re: Rapture
Tue, January 13, 2009 - 4:07 PMStar, perhaps you are right, having a lot of animosity and religious issues is probably almost as bad as swallowing lies and supporting a unhealthy religion.
ps. Mormons in utah live about the same lifespan as non smokers in other states, but what troubles me is that non mormons that smoke live a shorter life than smokers in other states. is it because utah tobacco is much worse for you? or is it because non mormons in utah are treated like parriah and endure extra stress because of it?

Re: Rapture
Fri, January 16, 2009 - 3:08 PMI have to say. Mormons from Utah, and America, are very diffrent to most Mormons down here in Oz.
There is a diffrent culture down here. You have a lot of left wing Mormons down here for one thing!
